Executing the admission process through a centralized platform, the much awaited ‘Online’ admission procedure for enrolling candidates in any of the constituent colleges affiliated to eight different State-owned universities started on Monday. With ample information, the portal carries the details of colleges, subjects offered and the description of contact persons. According to a Ranchi University (RU) official, till June 30, all eligible students can apply online.
As per an official of RU, after cross verifying the facts, the first admission list will be released on July 7 while the second admission list will be released on July 25. Following the academic calendar, classes will begin from August 2. The details of all 14 constituent colleges under RU and lists of other colleges under different universities have been uploaded on the portal.
Also, along with the online service, colleges and universities have made the provision of admitting students through offline procedure as well. During a recent meeting with the Heads of the Departments (HODs), including college principals, RU VC, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Pandey had instructed the administrative division of colleges to ensure that none of the students should suffer due to this new arrangement.
“Besides the university, all college heads have been ordered to depute a nodal officer to keep a track record of admission being done through the Chancellor Portal. Compilation of details will be done by the university personnel. Rs. 200 is being charged from General and other backward caste (OBC) students while SC and ST students will have to pay Rs. 100,” said RU Officer (PR), Dr. PK Jha.
“Students, who do not have access to internet connection, will have to download the admission form from the Chancellor portal and submit it to the college. For admission in Post-Graduation (PG) courses, candidates have to submit the application form to the concerned department while all Under-Graduate (UG) students will have to submit the admission form to the respective colleges. later on, all offline application forms will be uploaded on the portal,” added Jha.
Notably, the Department of Higher, Technical and Skill Development has introduced the online service with a view to ease the burden of university personnel on major frontages like regularization of the examination system and to simplify the admission procedure.
Also, this is a major effort towards making universities ‘Paperless’ by 2020 as per the national target. Meanwhile, the RU Officer (PR) said that cases of technical glitches are being addressed by the experts from National Informatics Centre (NIC) which has designed the site. “In the beginning some technical glitches were reported, but as per the officials handling the portal they will resolve the problem at the earliest,” Jha stated.
