No trace of Modi wave in country: Kejri

PNS

On the last day of his three-day Punjab tour, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that there was no trace of Modi wave in the country while appealing to the people to bring an end to the era of “corruption and VIP culture” of UPA and NDA Governments.

“There is no Modi wave in the country,” said Kejriwal, while addressing a roadshow in Sangrur. “The mission of AAP is to weed out corruption from the country since people are fed up of misrule by UPA and NDA Governments. If the common man does not come forward, the system will remain corrupt,” he said, calling upon the electorates to vote for AAP nominees if they are keen on bringing an end to the “era of corruption, VIP culture and for generating employment avenues for youth.”

On the last leg of his tour, Kejriwal held roadshows at Malerkotla, Shepur and Ahmedgarh towns where people were enthusiastic to get his glimpse. Former Delhi Chief Minister said that on May 16, the picture of UPA Government’s sins would be shattered (paap ka ghara toot jayega). While speaking at Ahmedgarh, Kejriwal enthused the masses with recitation of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.

However at Malerkotla, which is the only Muslim town of Punjab, the AAP convener avoided the slogans. Addressing gathering at Malerkotla college road, Kejriwal, in his brief address, emphasised the need for communal harmony and said that the change at Centre was need of the hour.

Kejriwal, accompanied among others by ludhiana AAP nominee HS Phoolka and Sangrur nominee Bhagwant Singh Mann, described the wearing of cap offered by Muslim leaders as an honour to him.

Fear Factor overpowering lives in Punjab: Singla

Sangrur: “Fear factor is overpowering the lives of people in Punjab,” said Congress candidate from Sangrur Vijay Inder Singla while addressing election meetings in Sunam.

“Whether it is the fear of antisocial elements or fear of unemployment, fear of tax inspectors, fear that their children will get into habit of drugs or fear that employees will not get their salaries this month — all this has been created by bad politics and bad governance of Akali-BJP Government,” said Singla.

He added that Punjab economy is in complete shambles and as everywhere else, the custodian of Punjab treasury must be made accountable for the situation people are facing. He urged Sunam voters to vote with a conscience and vote against the corrupt policies of Akali-BJP alliance.

Sujanpur: launching a blistering attack against his opponents, Punjab Congress president and Gurdaspur nominee Partap Singh Bajwa said, “While my SAD-BJP opponent Vinod Khanna is a paratrooper without a permanent local address despite representing this seat thrice earlier, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sucha Singh Chhotepur is a rank opportunist who is aspiring to join the Congress till the last.”

Bajwa, addressing a series of public meetings in Sujanpur Assembly segment, said that Khanna had been elected from Gurdaspur thrice as Akali Dal-BJP alliance candidate but “he did not own a permanent address in this constituency. Not only that, he did not even have his vote here….How can such a man be involved with the problems and issues concerning the people “.

‘PENDING PROJECTS TO BE TAKEN UP WITHIN MONTHS OF NDA COMING TO POWER’

Kharar (Mohali): SAD-BJP candidate from Anandpur Sahib constituency Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra committed to the electorate that work on all pending developmental projects in the area would be taken within two months of NDA Government coming to power.

Chandumajra, addressing an election rally at village Harlalpur, said that pending four-lane stretch of National Highway-21, from Kharar to Kurali, would be completed, besides making Mohali International Airport operational. “Industrialisation process in Punjab will be made swifter by acquiring similar tax sops for Punjab as are being given to neighbouring hilly States,” he added.
