Haryana Power Minister Ranjit Singh on Friday said that since its formation, the state has recorded the highest power consumption and maximum power load on July 1 this year.

“Power consumption of 2576.88 LU (Lakh Unit) has been recorded in the state, while a load of 11732 MW has been registered on July 1, 2021. This was a historic day for the state in the power sector as this requirement has been met by the power utilities of the state, the Minister claimed.

Singh said that the demand for electricity in Gurugram has increased by 34 percent this year as compared to last year. Last year, the maximum demand in Gurugram was 1147 MW, which has been recorded as 1534 MW on July 1. There is no power breakdown in Haryana and power is being supplied to the people as per the stipulated time without any interruption, he added.

Taking a dig at the Congress led Punjab Government on the issue of power crisis, the Minister said that due to lack of adequate power in Punjab, power cuts are being imposed in the industrial sector and the timings of government offices have also been rescheduled from 8 am to 2 pm. In Haryana, there is no such crisis as the State Government had already made advanced preparations to manage such a situation, he said.
