No laxity in Moosewala murder investigation, says Mann

PNS

A day after the slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's father, Balkaur Singh, threatened to leave the country and withdraw the FIR if Punjab Police fails to deliver justice, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday asserted that there was no laxity on the State Government's part in ensuring the delivery of justice in the murder case.

At the same time, Mann declared that culprits of Sidhu Moosewala’s murder case will get exemplary punishment. “Majority of conspirators, planners, and executors of this heinous crime have been already nabbed,” said Mann, while responding to media queries in Pathankot a day after Sidhu Moosewala’s father came down heavily on the state authorities for not ensuring justice even five months after his son was brutally murdered in broad daylight. Peeved, Moosewala's father Balkaur Singh has given an ultimatum to the state machinery till November 25.

Mann went on to add that the State Government has also requested the Central Government to issue Red Corner Notice for the culprits who have taken shelter on foreign lands.

“From our side, there is no such laxity that we are making any delay in delivery of justice. Every day, someone or the other is being arrested. From wherever we get any clue, we make arrests (in the case),” said the Chief Minister.

Describing Sidhu Moosewala’s murder incident as a “very serious matter”, Mann said that the police had arrested those who attacked the singer and planned the murder, and a charge sheet had also been submitted in the case.

Notably, 28-year-old globally renowned singer Moosewala was shot dead on May 29 by unidentified assailants in Mansa, a day after the State Government curtailed his security cover. The Punjabi singer was shot at point-blank range and was declared dead on arrival at the Mansa Civil Hospital. The killers fired over 30 rounds at Moosewala, who was found slumped in the driver's seat by locals.

The investigation suggested Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind of the daylight killing. His close aide Goldy Brar, who is said to be based in Canada, is also under investigation in this case. Police have issued a Red Corner Notice against Brar through Interpol.
