New bike squad to ease traffic in UT

PNS

In a bid to tighten the noose against miscreants and to maintain smooth flow of traffic in the city, Chandigarh police on Tuesday flagged off bike squad and recovery vans.

Advisor to the Administrator, KK Sharma, flagged off 50 Apache motorcycle, nine Bullet motorcycles and two Recovery Vans at Sukhna lake. Sharma said that these vehicles have been provided for strengthening and modernising Chandigarh Police. These motorcycles have been added to the fleet of vehicles against condemnation of 92 vehicles. Efforts are being made to procure the remaining vehicles as and when more funds are released by the Government of India.

These vehicles have been purchased due to better mileage and high pick-up as compared to greater fuel consumption of Royal Enfield bullet motorcycles.“Most of these vehicles will be made available to the Police Stations, Police Posts, PCR and Chandigarh Traffic Police and Security Wing to augment their efficiency, he added. Beside this, two new Recovery Vans have also been inducted into Chandigarh Traffic Police.
