Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday said the State Government was committed to provide specialised and best health care facilities to the people of the State at their door-steps.

Addressing the faculty and staff of the lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College at Ner Chowk in Mandi district, he said this medical college was sure to emerge as one of the best medical colleges of the State as it has the best infrastructure and location. Initially, this medical college was to be developed as ESIC Medical College and Hospital, but due to certain issues the same could not materialise and it was only after the NDA Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved this Medical College for the State.

Thakur said this institute has one of the finest infrastructure and campus in the State and the state government would provide all required infrastructure and faculty for this medical college at the earliest. He said that all modern facilities such as MRI, CT Scan and X Ray machine would be provided to the Institute.

He said the first Medical University would also be established at Mandi to effectively manage all the existing six government medical colleges in the State.
