PNS

Punjab power utility, Punjab State Power Corporation limited, on Tuesday claimed that it had supplied power for more than eight hours to the farmers during paddy season.

PSPCl chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) KD Chaudhri, after reviewing the power supply to agriculture pumpsets (AP) consumers during paddy season so far, said that PSPCl had made proper arrangements of power for paddy this year which resulted into adequate power supply to AP consumers.

He said that during the first week of July, demand of power supply soared to about 2,400 lakh units (lUs) on certain days and peak demand reached the figure of 11,000 megawatt (MW) which has been the highest recorded so far in the history of PSPCl.

“This year demand is about 20 percent more than last year’s demand. Due to proper arrangements made for anticipated demand, PSPCl has been able to supply more than eight hours power supply to AP consumers and 24 hours power supply to all other category of consumers,” he said.

Chaudhri, providing statistics of power demand and supply during paddy, informed that average daily power demand has been 2368 lUs in June this year and 1,927 lUs in July so far. “PSPCl has not imposed any regulatory measure on any category of consumers and supplied on an average 8.30 hours power supply to AP consumers daily in June and 9.30 hours in July,” he added.

CMD assured that PSPCl will meet required power demand of farmers during remaining paddy season without imposing any regulatory measures on other category of consumers.
