Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday established rapport with the huge crowd present here in an official function when he hailed the farmers of the State for filling the granaries of India.
Calling for adoption of modern agricultural practices and technologies, which not only help in filling granaries, but also ensure that the farmer gets well-remunerate, he said the Government would provide all help.
Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Chief Minister Hooda, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union MoS for Road Transport and Highways Krishan Pal, and the Union MoS for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh were also present on the occasion.
Modi said that a nation which gives impetus to infrastructure is more likely to become developed. “When the road network increases, the avenues of development increase too,” he said.
Modi said he has “come from the land where Swami Dayanand Saraswati was born”. Saraswati was born Feb 12, 1824 in Tankara, near Morbi in the Kathiawad region (now Rajkot district of Gujarat). “He (Saraswati) is widely respected in Haryana,” Modi said, assuring the crowd that he will give back the love he got from the people of Haryana by speeding up development there.
Modi said the Government was considering a new agricultural-irrigation scheme which will ensure ample water supply to farmers round the year. “Just as Atal Bihari Vajpayee had launched the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana connecting villages, we will launch Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana,” Modi said.
He said the farmers of Haryana play an important role in ensuring adequate food supply to the nation, but unfortunately they themselves are languishing in poverty. The prime minister also stressed on animal husbandry along with agriculture.
“If we also focus on animal husbandry along with agriculture, the farmers will have the means of livelihood even in difficult times,” Modi said, adding it is important to use modern technology in agriculture. He said his Government will speed up pending schemes related to Haryana.
