Haryana labour and Employment Minister, Capt Abhimanyu on Monday said that it is necessary to change the functioning of the Employment Department and it should go beyond listing the unemployed youth and providing them unemployment allowance.
“Since the main objective of the Government is to generate employment and ensure people livelihood, the functioning of the Employment Department needs to be changed,” said Capt. Abhimanyu while addressing the 46th session of the Indian labour Conference held under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
Capt Abhimanyu said that the Employment Department should give meaningful feedback for increasing employment opportunities. Should it not change the way it works, it would lose its very purpose and existence in the present system, he added.
The targets set under “Make in India” and “Skill India” would serve as guide to work for welfare of the unorganized work force. The Government should bring transparency in the functioning of every system to protect the rights of the labour, and ensure effective implementation of the labour laws, said he.
The Minister said, “In this computer and internet era, it is very easy to implement the labour laws with transparency. Through this conference, the Government should convey the message to the world that industry and the labour class would make ‘Make in India’ a success through the medium of ‘Skill India,’ and once again India would emerge as an economic super power and be called a Golden Sparrow”, he added.
