Mild to dense fog was witnessed in parts of Haryana and Punjab on Thursday morning, days after the region witnessed incessant rainfall.

The region had witnessed heavy rainfall from September 22 to 24. “After a spell of widespread rainfall due to a western disturbance recently, enough moisture content was trapped in the atmosphere that led to fog formation in parts of Haryana and Punjab in the past two days,” said Director of Chandigarh Meteorological Department, Surender Pal.

He said that the weather conditions will be normal and temperature will begin to rise in a couple of days. However, the mornings will be pleasant now, Pal said.

The weather is likely to be dry in next 48 hours in Haryana while some parts of Punjab are likely to receive light rain, he added.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures hovered below normal limits in Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, even as dry weather prevailed in the two states.
