PNS

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has convened a meeting of UT Administration and the joint forum of industries to resolve the issues of industrialists in the city.

After a number of representations sent by the joint forum of Industries Association Chandigarh (IAC) and Chamber of Chandigarh Industries (CCI) accusing the Administration of harassing the industrialists, a meeting to resolve the issues has been convened on Tuesday at New Delhi.

The industrialists are up in arms against the Administration for issuing misuse and violation notices to industrial units despite court orders. Recently, the UT Estate Office had sent misuse notices to around 100 units in the industrial area for violating building bylaws.

The industrialists’ demands including transfer of leasehold plots to freehold, formulation of new industrial policy, need-based changes and enhancement of floor-area ratio (FAR) are also likely to be taken up during the meeting.

Prior to Tuesday’s meeting with MHA, KK Sharma, Adviser to Administrator convened a meetingon Monday to review the status of long pending demands of industrialists. The long pending demands of the industrialists were deliberated upon during the meeting.
