An employee of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) ended his life by hanging himself at his house in Chinaut Colony here after posting his suicide note on social networking website Facebook on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Naveen Arora (30) and was posted as Data Entry Operator (DEO) at the University for the last over two years.

Preliminary investigation by police has suggested that Naveen was mentally upset for some time, which he has mentioned in his suicide note. The incident came to light when one of his Facebook friends made a call to his kin after going through suicide note. However, he first tried to contact Naveen but failed to get any response.

The kin then went to Naveen’s room and found him hanging from a ceiling fan. They immediately informed police, who rushed to the spot and sent the body to PGIMS for a post-mortem exam.

Police said Naveen got married some months ago. In his suicide note, Naveen wrote that “I am so upset with my married life that I have no option but to commit suicide in order to get  rid of it. My tolerance level has crossed all limits, hence I am ending my life and I don’t know who is responsible for that.”

A pall of gloom descended on the Maharshi Dayanand University campus when news of Naveen’s suicide reached there. A large number of the varsity employees started gathering at PGIMS where Naveen’s body was kept.

Police said statements from Naveen’s family were being recorded to confirm facts mentioned in the suicide note. “The body was handed over to his kin after an inquest on Thursday noon,” said police.
