Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said that it is a matter of pride for the entire state that in the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme, he lauded the efforts of Haryana’s Sunil Jaglan — a resident of Bibipur village in Jind district, and Pradeep Sangwan — a resident of Charkhi Dadri.

“The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of both the citizens, which would not only inspire the Haryanvis but also the people of other states as well. The Government’s work should not be limited only to the development, but it should also work for public awareness. This ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme has been started in this direction and every episode has inspired citizens to do something new for the society,” said Khattar.

The Chief Minister said that several times in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, the Prime Minister had mentioned the new initiatives taken in Haryana. “The Prime Minister mentioned ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign, cleanliness drive started by the youth of Dulheri village in Bhiwani district, Sarai constructed by a social organization in AIIMS in Badsa, etc.  Even before this, the Prime Minister has praised our sportspersons and progressive farmers in many episodes,” he said.

“Today, mass programmes have been organized at 100 places in every assembly constituency to listen to this special 100th episode. Thus, more than 10 lakh people listened ‘Maan ki Baat’ Programme on Sunday across Haryana, which highlights their emotional connection with this programme,” he added.

Talking to the media after the programme, the Chief Minister said that taking inspiration from the Prime Minister, the Haryana Government has also taken several steps for public welfare. Taking inspiration from the system in which ration was delivered door to door under the leadership of the Prime Minister during the pandemic, the Haryana government too has made a Parivar Pehchan Patra for the welfare of the poor and needy, he said.

In his programmme on Sunday, the Prime Minister highlighted that Haryana’s gender ratio has improved as a result of many campaigns like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and ‘Selfie With Daughter’.

Crediting Haryana-based Sunil Jaglan for the ‘Selfie With Daughter’ campaign, Modi said that the importance of having a daughter in one's life comes to the fore through his campaign. “Sunil Jaglan ji has created an impact because earlier there used to be a lot of discussion on the Gender Ratio in Haryana", the PM said.

“I started the campaign 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' from Haryana itself. The 'Selfie with Daughter' campaign influenced me a lot and I mentioned it in my episode. Soon this 'Selfie with Daughter' campaign turned into a global campaign. The motive of this campaign was to make people understand the importance of a daughter in one's life,” said Modi.

“Mention on ‘Mann ki Baat’ boosted campaign”
Pradeep Sangwan, who is on a mission to clear the Himalayas of the waste left behind by tourists, said that he had almost given up his initiative but a mention from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his “Mann ki Baat” programme gave a renewed impetus to his efforts.

Interacting with Modi during the 100th episode, Sangwan — who established the Healing Himalayas Foundation for the purpose nearly seven years ago — said that the Prime Minister mentioning his campaign during his past radio broadcast boosted his campaign.

Sangwan told Modi that they began on a nervous note and “at one time, I was not sure if I would be able to sustain this life long as few people were taking interest in the campaign and not giving much importance to the initiative. I had almost thought of giving up at one stage”.

Modi told him that he was performing a noble duty in the peaks of the Himalayas in the true sense. “And I firmly believe that hearing your name, people remember how you are associated with the cleanliness campaign of the mountains,” said Modi, adding that several mountaineers are posting photos connected with “swachhta (cleanliness)”.
