PNS

SAD president Sukhbir Badal on Friday said that People’s Party of Punjab (PPP) chief Manpreet Badal was getting jittery because his past was catching up with him with all the people whom he had oppressed coming out in the open now.

Sukhbir, in a statement, said that besides showroom in Chandigarh against whose tenant a case under the Scheduled Caste Atrocities Act was registered, the PPP chief was also accused of having usurped a petrol pump besides taking over Wakf board land.“There are many more instance of high handedness committed by Manpreet Badal in his former constituency of Gidderbaha also,” he added.

Making it clear that the law would take its own course, he said that it was for the victims of Manpreet’s oppression to come forward and register their complaints. “As far as the SAD is concerned, it has never pursued a politics of personal vendetta and is not going to start doing so now,” he added.

“Recent turn of events has proved that the PPP chief is hand in glove with Congress during his tenure as finance minister of Punjab. He entered into a conspiracy with then Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee who promised to provide him a financial package and also help to become the next Chief Minister in case he was able to split the SAD,” he alleged. He said when Manpreet failed to split the SAD, the Congress encouraged him to form a separate entity hoping it would harm the prospects of the SAD in the 2012 assembly elections.

‘Jaitley importing workers’

Amritsar: Congress candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday maintained that his SAD-BJP combine rival Arun Jaitley has already lost confidence in workers and supporters from Amritsar, and that was the reason why he was “importing” workers from New Delhi. The former chief minister referred to Jaitley’s statement that a number of RSS and BJP workers, besides some film stars, had already come to Amritsar to campaign for him.“Either he has lost his confidence or he has no faith in local workers of his own party,” said Capt Amarinder, while addressing a public meeting at Sultanwind in Amritsar South Assembly segment.

“Otherwise, there is no reason or logic in bringing workers from outside... Elections are not won by glamour but grass-roots appeal…but, I can understand since Jaitley does notknow as he happens to be new to electoral politics,” said Capt Amarinder.

Modi Model of development is more a hype than reality and the Congress has always stood for inclusive development,” she said.Preneet also criticised the Punjab Government for “not doing anything” constructive to improve the infrastructure in the State. “Our hospitals, schools are in poor condition and the State Government is busy laying foundation stones but God alone knows when the real work will commence on these projects,” she said.
