Making Rafale details public non-practical: HM

PMS

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that the Opposition is making a non-practical demand of making public the details of the Rafale jet deal with France over corruption charges.

Accusing the Opposition of trying to mislead the people of the country, Rajnath Singh said that in view of the nation's security, all details related to the deal cannot be made public.

"This has also happened during the tenure of the previous Governments," Rajnath Singh said while speaking in a rally held at Ambala.

The Union Minister said that the Opposition leaders are making efforts to come to power by telling lies.

"The present Government has given preference to the uplift of the poor. There were only three mobile manufacturing factories during the tenure of the previous Government whereas in the four years of the present Government, 100 new factories have come up," he added.

Referring to national security, Rajnath Singh said that on the pattern of Israel, an integrated Border Security System is being implemented to secure and strengthen the borders.

He said it would not be possible to secure the 22,000 km of land and water borders of the country with barbed wires.

"Hence, the Central Government has decided to adopt technology based security system," he said

Rajnath further said that the present Government has strongly checked the naxal movement, which has become a challenge for the country. Now, the security forces are successful in controlling their   activities, he said.

During UPA, more of our jawans were being killed than Naxals, but I am proud to say that we have reversed this situation, the Home Minister said.

He also took the occasion to highlight that the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has equipped the armed forces with modern technology to combat infiltrators.

"After Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed me the responsibility of maintaining safety and security of the country, the Home Ministry considered using of high-tech solutions for border security. We have set up many control rooms near the border so that our jawans can easily see what is happening near the border and can take actions appropriately," he said.

He added, "If one looks closely, no big terror attack has taken place in the country after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power. I thank all the security forces for their efforts in making our country safe for people."
