love him or hate him, NaMo continues to dominate the social networking platforms.
As Chandigarh’s election scene is hotting up, the election campaign remains Modi-centric on social networking websites.
The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi remains the focus of attention for all political parties during their election campaigning. The pro-Modi and anti-Modi campaigns are holding sway over the social networking websites.
The Chandigarh Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party’s pages on social networking
website — Facebook is in the grip of a ‘Modi wave’. The party workers of both Chandigarh Congress and Chandigarh BJP have flung themselves in ‘Modi campaign’, the only difference is one side loves Modi while the other hates him.
The city BJP has been sharing and posting pictures showering praise on Modi and his Gujarat development model on their Facebook account. Admiring their favorite leader, BJP’s pictures shows slogans like “Time for change, time for Modi”, NaMo mantra for united India”, “Modi, it’s not just a name, it’s a revolution”
On the other hand, the Chandigarh Congress’ Facebook page terming Modi as “Feku” has been sharing and posting pictures/data/graphics claiming to expose the hype around the Gujarat development model. Chandigarh Congress Facebook page have slogans like “Dar dar Modi, Thar Thar Modi”, “Feku(Modi)-Adani friendship exposed”
The reaction to the ‘Modi wave’ has apparently reached fever pitch in Chandigarh’s election area. Interestingly, the Facebook page of Chandigarh Congress is only about Modi and there is hardly any mention of Congress candidate and local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal, albeit, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi manages to get little space on the page.
The Chandigarh Aam Aadmi Party’s Facebook page is also hitting out at Modi and some pictures related to him have been posted and shared by the party unit. “Janta ke prati koi jawabdehi nahi, koi Press conference nahi, janta se koi mulakat nahi” is a message along with Modi’s photo is posted on their Facebook account.
The ‘NaMo’ is not only confined to the official Facebook pages of political parties but is also getting special mention in official account of local leaders.
The BJP leaders on their Facebook and Twitter accounts are endorsing the “Modi for Prime Minister” message by posting slogans while the local Congress leaders are attacking Modi on the social networking platforms.
A day after Modi’s rally in Chandigarh, Congress’ Subhash Chawla in his Facebook page termed Narendra Modi’s rally a flop show and had posted “Modi rally a big flop show , Modi is speaking and people are leaving the rally ground ….”
Apparently, everybody seems to be talking about Modi only…
Notably, the city BJP has been puling out all the stops to endorse “Modi for PM message” in the city from past few months. From their “tea vendors’ campaign” to “Modi Caféteria”, the local party unit has been actively campaigning for its PM candidate by embracing all kinds of innovative campaigning ways.
Earlier, a campaign namely ‘Ek Note, Kamal Par Vote’ was organised in the city where the party members wearing a mask of Modi went door-to-door requesting people to contribute for the party and had also distributed leaflets about Modi to the residents.
This time, Chandigarh is witnessing a triangular ballot fight between Congress, BJP and AAP. Congress candidate and local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal is pitted against AAP’s candidate Gul Panag and BJP’s actress-turned-politician Kirron Kher.
