After hectic parleys and lobbying at Delhi Durbar, the Congress leaders have finally reached a consensus on the names which are likely to be announced by this week for Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and for chairmen of boards and corporations.

Two rounds of meeting were held by Congress general secretary and State in-charge Amibka Soni on Saturday night, one with Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh alone and other with PCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.

Sources said that Chief Minister submitted list of seven names for inclusion in PCC and for appointments in boards and corporation. The loyalists of Virbhadra Singh were alleging that they were sidelined in the new PCC list and junior leaders were given prominence which belongs to different factions.

Senior party leaders said that not all names will be considered for PCC but three-four names will be considered for the PCC body like that of Excise Minister Prakash Choudhary, Rangila Ram Rao and Khush Parmar, son of Himachal Pradesh founder YS Parmar.

PCC chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that some more names will be included in the list of PCC executive for which announcements will be made shortly. “We had discussions with central leadership on various issues especially on strengthening of organisation ahead of 2014 general elections,” said Sukhu refusing to divulge the names of leaders to be included in the list of PCC.

Meanwhile, apart from four names cleared for appointments in boards and corporation which include former assembly speaker Gangu Ram Musafir for financial commission, Harbhajjan Singh Bhajji a loyalist of Union Commerce Minister Anand Sharma and Prakash Karad for HIMFED and Kewal Singh Pathania for Forest Corporation, some names of loyalists of Virbhadra Singh will also be cleared by the central leadership.

About two dozen annoyed leaders (both senior and junior ranks) were camping in Delhi and meeting with senior central leaders to get their names cleared for board and corporation.

“They were doing the spade work ahead of the visit of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in Delhi and as soon as he reached, he got names of some of his loyalists cleared,” said a senior party leader.
