PNS

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Saturday reiterated the resolve of the State Government to get its legitimate share of river waters through the Sutlej Yamuna link (Canal), asserting that until the state got its rightful share, equitable water supply would be ensured right up to the tail-ends through canal water to strengthen the irrigation system in the State.

An irrigation project costing Rs 112 crore would be implemented in a phased manner to make available water in tail-end villages of Sirsa district, the Chief Minister announced while addressing a mammoth "Jiye Jawan Jiye Kisan" rally in Mandi Dabwali.

The first phase of the project would start with remodeling of the Bhakhra Main Branch (BMB) and about 30 villages of the district would directly benefit from this project. Sufficient irrigation water would be made available to the farmers in the district.

The Chief Minister announced that pending claims amounting to Rs 200 crore of farmers of Bhiwani and Sirsa districts on account of crop damage due to the attack of while fly would be released within ten days. Necessary instructions have been issued in this regard.

He also announced that sub-tehsil Goriwala would be accorded the status of tehsil and said that development works costing Rs 70 crore would be executed in the villages of Mandi Dabwali Assembly constituency.

Attacking the Opposition parties for describing BJP as an inexperienced party, he said, “During the last about four years, it has been proved that we are running a better government than them. We have been able to keep a tab on corruption and works which were undertaken at a cost of Rs 100 crore earlier are now being done for Rs 85 crore.”

The Chief Minister claimed that after taking the reins of the state government in 2014, the rule of Kharchi and Parchi (money and approach) has been changed by eliminating the system of corruption, middlemen and hooliganism.

"Today, children of even farmers and labourers are getting government jobs in various departments without any approach. The present state government has ensured uniform development of all parts of the state without any discrimination," the chief minister added.

Cautioning the drug addicts and those involved in illegal trade of drugs, the Chief Minister advised them to stay away from drugs otherwise strict action would be taken against them.  “I recently convened a meeting of Chief Ministers of different states to devise an effective strategy to deal with the drug menace in northern states”, he added.

To ensure equitable industrial development of the state and provide ample employment opportunities to youth, the state government has divided the state in A, B, C and D blocks. Special incentives are being given to such industries as have set up units in C and D Blocks, he said.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 13 projects costing over Rs 73.35 crore for district Sirsa.

Earlier speaking on this occasion, BJP State President, Subhash Barala, said it was for the first time in last 25 years that water has reached the tail-ends in loharu and Mahendergarh. During the last about four years, the present state government has worked without any discrimination. He urged the people to remain vigilant from those leaders who are trying to take political mileage in the name of farmers but did nothing for them.
