One of the most awaited annual event of the City Beautiful, the Chandigarh Carnival 2018 was inaugurated by Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, at leisure Valley on Friday.
Jitender Yadav, Director Tourism and other officers from Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation were present on the occasion.
Kher flagged off the Carnival Parade showcasing the beautiful and creative floats designed by the students of Arts College, CITCO and Chandigarh Tourism (depicting the major tourist spots in Chandigarh), Education Department and Home Science College.
The floats designed on the Gandhi theme had different components depicting the lifestyle of the iconic leader. The colorful rally went around the City and attracted the denizens to the much loved Chandigarh Carnival. For car lovers, a Vintage car display has been set up at the Government Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10.
As a special gesture to commemorate the150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Kher released a huge bunch of white balloons to spread the message of peace and harmony.
The Chandigarh Carnival 2018 consist of stalls exhibited by various academies, NGO's & Govt. Departments who have displayed various art & crafts. The day long cultural programmes by various artists and performers, amusement park, joy rides with various fun & frolic activities & Cartoon characters attracted the people.
Fort the food lovers, stalls have been installed by CIHM, AIHM, CITCO and others. The first day of the Carnival witnessed a Bollywood Musical Nite Live by Shaan int he evening. Shaan performed on his famous melodies which enthralled the audience.
All the three days of the carnival are packed with numerous activities. Competitions and events for every generation and taste of people are framed, so that everybody gets a chance to showcase their talent.
On Saturday, there will be a performance by Punjabi singer Harbhajan Mann.
