The first one stop centre for women in Haryana will be set up at Karnal in which women in distress would be provided all basic facilities under one roof.
Director, Haryana Women and Child Development Department Amneet P Kumar on Tuesday met the senior officers of the Department and District Administration at Karnal in this regard.
She said that the entire expenditure for the scheme would be borne by the Central Government. She expressed concern that like any other place in the world, gender based violence also happens in India in different forms. Unfortunately, incidents like domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, dowry, child marriage, acid-attack, sati pratha, women forced into prostitution come to notice in the society every now and then, she added.
The Director said that to keep a check on these incidents, various steps were being taken by the Central and the State Government but tragically if any untoward incident happens with a woman then the aggrieved women or girl has to face lot of problems for getting police and medical assistance, legal assistance and temporary residence for a short term.
Due to lack of such facilities under one roof, the victims have to go to different places which aggravates their mental and physical stigma. Keeping this in view, one stop centre for women will be established in Karnal with the assistance of Central Government, she added.
Kumar said that the aim of the one stop centre for women is to provide all necessary facilities to the victim like medical, security, police and legal assistance and guidance under one roof.
