A delegation of Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) on Friday met Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij and sought immediate withdrawal of the cases registered against the farmers during their stir.

A three-member delegation involving JJP state chief Nishan Singh, INSO head and JJP senior leader Digvijay Singh Chautala and state office secretary Randhir Singh held a meeting with the state Home Minister on the issue.

Following the meeting, JJP leader Digvijay Singh Chautala said that the meeting was held in a positive environment and we have requested the Minister that the cases filed against the farmers during their movement to the national capital, must be taken back immediately.

He said that the administration had to take defensive action during the farmers’ movement towards Delhi and for security reasons, the cases were registered. Digvijay said that the Minister has given them assurance in this regard and he would also discuss the issue with Chief Minister.

He said that prior to this he had met with the CM and discussed this matter.

He added that the BJP-JJP coalition government will take the right step in this regard.

The talks between the union Government and farmers’ unions are being consistently held and the government has made it clear that the MSP regime would continue, Digvijay said.

Notably, Haryana Police had booked state Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) chief Gurnam Singh Charuni and several farmers on the attempt to murder and rioting charges in Ambala.

Hundreds of farmers were booked on charges of rioting, participating in unlawful assembly, obstructing public servants from discharging their duty, damaging public property and violating various provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, in Ambala, Panipat, Rohtak, Kaithal, Sirsa and other districts of the state a week ago.
