The Akhil Bharatiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, which has been spearheading the Jat Reservation movement, on Thursday threatened the Union Government to revive its agitation campaign if it does not issue the notification regarding inclusion of Jat in Other Backward Class (OBC) category by January 26 next.

Om Prakash Dhankhar, national secretary of the Sangharsh Samiti said inordinate delay in giving Jats OBC status by the Union Government would no longer be tolerated as the Jats were eagerly waiting for public notification in this regard. “Over a month is sufficient enough for the Union Government to issue gazette

notification regarding the OBC status for Jats. If the Government does not make it by January 26, the sangharsh samiti will have to revive its agitation stir to built pressure on the Government for the purpose,” said the Jat leader, adding that delay in issuing the notification would cause anger among the jats at national level.

The Sangharsh Samiti had recently decided to show black flags to Republic Day parade in Delhi on January 26 to register their protest against the Union Government for not giving OBC status to Jats. Thereafter, the Government had sought recommendation of NCBC about inclusion of Jats in OBC at Centre level. lambasting those political leaders who are seeking reservation on economic basis, Dhankhar said the sangharsh samiti would mobilise the electors against these leaders in coming lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the State to teach them a lesson.
