“The objective of this decision is to ensure that no more lives are lost in traffic accidents as Jaspal Bhatti died in a road accident,” said Manish Choudhry, UT Senior Superintendent Traffic.

The decision was taken by the SSP Traffic, on the occasion of first death anniversary of late Jaspal Bhatti, here on Thursday.

SSP added that Traffic police will make all the efforts to make people aware about the importance of safety equipments in vehicles by conducting road safety campaigns in the city, demonstrating, how Bhatti lost his life in a road accident due to negligence and not using safety equipments.

Meanwhile, Chandigarh police have already started teaching people about the traffic rules which are directly related to the safety of road users.

SSP also told mediapersons that a revised proposal to the Ministry of Surface Transport will be sent to make wearing of seat belts mandatory even for passengers on the back seat.
