Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday minced no words to term senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar’s ultimatum to sit on ‘fast-unto-death’ on the issue of Satluj Yamuna link (SYl) canal as “a political stunt”.
Reacting to Jakahr’s ultimatum, Badal posed three questions to the Congress leader asking him that who approved the SYl canal project, who laid the foundation of this project and who rejoiced and welcomed the opening of this project.
“Congress leaders are just shedding crocodile tears on this issue whereas reality is that they are the main culprits of great injustice with Punjabis.,” said Badal. He said that after hanging the people of Punjab, the Congress leadership was now raising hue and cry over this issue just for vested political interests. “As the matter is in the Apex Court, the Union Government can hardly do anything in this matter,” added Badal.
