Jakhar demands Punjab Govt take control of Adarsh schools

PNS

leader of Opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Sunil Jakhar has demanded from the SAD-BJP Government to take over the control of Adarsh schools from private players. The private management/companies running Adarsh schools, were allegedly indulging in malpractice and exploiting the teaching as well as non-teaching staff working there, said Jakhar.

The notion of these Adarsh schools was to improve the education standard in the areas, especially rural but due to commercial approach of the organisations running these, the concept of Adarsh schools had been badly compromised, blamed Jakhar.

As per guidelines of Union HRD Ministry, staff in above schools must be paid as per the lines of employees working in the Kendriya Vidyalaya but the ground reality is entirely different and the staff was being allegedly exploited by private players who have more commercial motive to work than to improve the education system, he stated.

Recently, a representation of teaching and non-teaching staff of Adarsh schools had met him and divulged their grievances, said Jakhar. Instead to lay down more foundation stones, Akalis must concentrate to better run the already launched projects, he suggested. SAD-BJP Government had announced to set up Adarsh schools in Bathinda, Faridkot and Abohar, but it had not materialised yet, blamed Jakhar.
