INlD, Haryana’s main opposition party on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Manohar lal Khattar led Haryana Government for spending lavishly on the ‘Gita Jayanti Mahotsav’ which began on Tuesday in Kurukshetra.
“The CM is trying to shine his own image by spending extravagantly on a festival. When `30 lakh is spent on decorating a temple with flowers, we can understood how much would have been spent for organizing this festival,” said INlD state president Ashok Arora and senior party leader Abhay Singh Chautala.
Abhay Singh Chautala, who is also leader of opposition in Haryana Assembly said that earlier, the State Government had wasted `1700 for swarna jayanti year of Haryana.
The INlD also slammed the BJP led Haryana Government for changing the name of the festival this time and removing ‘Kurukshetra’ from it. Every year, ‘Kurukshetra Mahotsav-Gita Jayanti Samaroh’ is organised in Kurukshetra to spread the celestial message of Bhagwad Gita but this time, the State Government has changed the name of the festival to ‘International Gita Mahotsav’ removing Kurukshetra, where lord Krishna had delivered the message, said the party senior leaders. Chautala also launched a scathing attack on Haryana Government for failing to take up the Sutlej Yamuna link canal issue strongly with the Centre.
Stating that Chief Minister Manohar lal is a weak leader, Chautala said that the Chief Minister had been assuring to seek time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet on SYl issue, but failed to take time since past three weeks.
While an all party delegation led by Chief Minister had on November 28 met President Pranab Mukherjee urging him for implementation of the SC verdict on SYl issue at the earliest, the state delegation is yet to meet Prime Minister on the issue.
The leader of opposition also announced to write letter to all MPs and MlAs urging them to join him on February 23 to dig up SYl canal.
