Nishu Mahajan

The Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana will launch ‘Super 100’ scheme to provide free coaching for JEE, NEET and boarding facility to meritorious students of Government schools.

As many as 225 students will get free expert coaching for competitive exams under the ‘Super 100’ scheme to be launched by the State Government during this financial year.

Under the scheme, the meritorious students from the Government schools across the state will be selected on a basis of an entrance test to be conducted in second week of June in all districts. The students who have attained more than 85 per cent marks in class 10th would be eligible to participate in the entrance test.

A total of 225 students including girls and boys are proposed to be selected from the entrance test following which they will be given two years special free of cost training for medical and engineering competitive entrance exams.

125 students will be admitted in a Government school in Rewari and 100 will be admitted in Karnal where they will complete their schooling (classes XI and XII) and simultaneously receive expert coaching. The entire expenditure on boarding, lodging and travel arrangements (once in three months) of students during these two years, would be borne by the Haryana Government, in a bid to ensure that meritorious students could avail best coaching and lack of money does not act as a barrier to the education.

The State Education Department has already written to all district education officers and principals, asking them to apprise parents about the ‘Super 100’ scheme and ensure that students achieving more than 85 per cent in class 10th participate in the entrance test to be held in June for selection process under the scheme.

“Haryana Government has signed an MoU with Vikalp Foundation, Rewari to provide free coaching facility to the meritorious students of the government schools across the state. Another MoU will be signed soon to provide coaching and boarding facility to the students at Karnal as well,” said a senior officer of the Education Department while talking to The Pioneer.

He said that under the ‘Super 100’ scheme, it is proposed to enroll 125 students in Rewari and 100 students in Karnal. It is expected that atleast 200 students will undergo the complete two years free of cost training for medical and engineering competitive entrance exams, said he.

The officer further said that district level orientation programmes will be held across the state to apprize parents and students about the ‘Super 100’ initiative of the State Government.

Equal number of girls and boys will be enrolled under the scheme.

An initial budget of Rs 1 crore has been kept for the scheme during this financial year, he added.

Notably, nearly half of the students of class 10th in Haryana have failed to pass the examination, results for which were declared by the Board of School Education, Haryana (BSEH), a day before.

The overall pass percentage in the secondary examination stood at dismal 51.15 percent. Girls had outshined the boys with passing percentage of 55.34, whereas the passing percentage of boys stood at 47.61.
