It was in Bollywood blockbuster Munna Bhai MBBS that actor Sanjay Dutt with the help of hi-tech mobile telephony service managed to successfully qualify for medical examination but real life Munna Bhai’s won’t be successful in Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) examinations as commission proposes to install sophisticated jammers to stop any telephone service in examination halls.
The move comes with commission noticing several recent successful and unsuccessful attempts of mass copying in examination halls using hi-tech telephone devices by organised rackets during SSC examination. Commission will be sending a proposal to the state government shortly to provide funds for installing jammers in the examination centers. KS Tomar chairman, HP Public Service Commission said that a decision in this regard was taken in commission’s meeting held recently.
Tomar said that commission had decided to take preventive steps to eliminate any chance of mass copying during various examinations like HAS, HJS and SlET. He said that commission merely conducted the written examination of SSC, which pertained to recruitment of combined graduate level, junior engineer (civil and electrical), SI in CAPFs, ASIs in CISF. He said that there was a need to use technology to check any chance of copying hence there was a dire need of installing mobile jammers. The chairman disclosed that emphasis would be on frisking of candidates during the examinations with the assistance of local police at various examination centres.
He said invigilators would be sensitized to keep close watch of suspicious elements. Commission has also decided to revise the examination and screening test fee to be charged from the candidate.Further, the commission has recently also introduced Bar code instead of alphanumeric fictious roll numbers on answer sheets for ensuring better secrecy and transparency.
