At a time, when mercury is fast taking a dip in the State, the six-day Winter Session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly is all set to witness stormy scenes raising the political temperature ahead of 2014- general polls.

The Winter Session of the Assembly will start from December 16 at the Winter Capital Dharamsala and would continue till December 21. Opposition BJP seems to be in no mood to give an opportunity to ruling Congress and is likely to corner the Government over different issues including that of targeting of sports institution Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), fresh corruption charges against chief minister Virbhadra Singh, favouritism to particular hydel Project Company which gave chief minister and his wife loan and alleged political vendetta.

BJP has been busy making strategy and meeting of opposition legislators will be held at Dharamshala on December 15 a day before the session begins. State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti said that opposition will try to expose the vendetta politics unleashed by the government and would gheroe the Government over non availability of rations in depots and price rise in the state.

Meanwhile, ruling Congress is also looking forward to counter the opposition and meeting of Congress legislators is also scheduled to be held at Dharamshala.  “In the six day session, total of 355 questions are listed for question hour and December 19 will be treated as the private member day, for which nine resolutions have been received and four shall be taken up,” said assembly speaker Brij Biharilal Butail.

The Speaker has requested all the MlAs to ensure smooth functioning of the assembly session as the monsoon session witnessed frequent disruptions over different issues. “Due to disruptions, crucial working hours of the assembly are being wasted and people centric issues remains undiscussed,” said Butail when contacted on phone.

Speculations are also rife that the state government after drawing flak from Himachal Pradesh High Court in HPCA case, may bring the controversial sports bill in the assembly to bring the sports institutions of the state under its ambit for better transparency and management.
