The problems for Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) national president and Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur looks far from ending as State vigilance and anti-corruption bureau on Thursday booked him and his younger brother for forging document allegedly for purchasing a piece of land at Dharamshala.

Thakur is already in news for alleged irregularities committed in Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) with a vigilance bureau investigating the irregularities and registrar of societies barring the association to pass any resolution without the permission of administrator appointed by it.

The fresh case pertains to the land purchased by Anurag Thakur and his younger brother Arun Dhumal near Kalapul on Dharamshala— Mcleodganj road. The north zone unit of State vigilance and anti-corruption bureau had lodged fresh case against Thakur and Arun Dhumal. The case were registered under section 420, 188, 120(B) of IPC and section 13 (2) Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) against Thakur and Arun Dhumal.

According to vigilance officials, the land was allotted by the Government and could not be sold or purchased for the period of 20 years. ADGP (vigilance) Prithvi Raj confirmed the registration of cases against Thakur and Arun Dhumal.

On the other hand, a fresh  case was also lodged against HPCA for encroaching land near International Cricket Stadium, Dharamshala. This land belongs to State Sports Department and was allegedly encroached by HPCA. Vigilance bureau had registered a case under section 447 and 120 (B) of IPC and 13 (B) of Prevention of Damage to public property.

While Thakur is in active politics, his younger brother Arun Dhumal has not been in active politics but campaigned for his father former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal during assembly elections and his elder brother during parliamentary elections.

Former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal and Anurag Thakur have been alleging that Virbhadra Singh Government has been acting out of political vendetta and targeting them. Earlier, functioning of HPCA is also being contested in different courts as State Government with the help of registrar of societies have sent a notice that how society was turned to company without any intimation to the registrar of societies.

Thakur has claimed that HPCA has been made non-profitable company under valid rules. HPCA maintains that registrar of societies does not have any jurisdiction over the institution after it has been made a company.
