Himachal Government on Monday directed all the Superintendents of Police in the State to ensure that no person is permitted to consume alcohol on State and National Highways, public places and open spaces.
A spokesperson of the State Government said that the SPs have also been asked to constitute special squads to arrest inebriated persons on these places and take stern action under the existing provisions of IPC, Excise Act, Motor Vehicles Act and the rules.
The religious heads, including of Deras have been also requested to appeal to the youth to stay away from the drugs and preach the deleterious effects of drugs on the health.
