Just a fortnight after Shimla was covered with snow on March 8, the mercury in the state capital has witnessed a rapid increase, as the nights have become hotter. The sharp rise in mercury took the minimum temperature 7 degrees above normal in Himachal's capital. The night temperature in Shimla was recorded 14.6 degree Celsius, while the day temperature touched 23.6 degrees.
Shimla weather remains mild and pleasant during the months of February and March and generally settles in the range of 15 degrees and 20 degrees. The other famous hill station Manali has also been witnessing hotter days, which had submerged to sub-zero levels after the snowfall in the second week of March.
