Punjab government has enhanced the amount of honorarium to be paid to all Mayors, Senior Deputy Mayors, Deputy Mayors and Councillors of all Municipal Corporations. In a statement issued here, Minister for local Bodies in Punjab, Anil Joshi said the department has given its nod to the proposal of enhancement in the honorarium of all Mayors, Senior Deputy Mayors, Deputy Mayors and Councillors of all Municipal Corporations.
He said that honorarium has been hiked one and half fold. The honorarium of Mayor has been hiked from Rs20,000 to Rs30,000 per month, Senior Deputy Mayor from Rs16,000 to Rs24,000 and Deputy Mayor from Rs12, 500 to Rs18, 725 per month.
Similarly the constituency allowance for Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor has been increased from Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 per month and Telephone allowance from Rs2,000 to Rs3,000 per month.
The Minister said that the constituency allowance for the Councillors has been increased from Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 per month where as Telephone allowance for the Councillor has been enhanced from Rs2,000 to Rs3,000 per month.
