PNS

The scope and practice of home nursing has expanded in tandem with the growing healthcare needs. With the rise in aged population and chronic and more complex health issues, the demand for home nurses has increased, said Governor SC Jamir addressing the 12th annual function of Shusrusa held here on Saturday.

He stressed on the importance of having more such organisations with home nursing service and training programmes like the Shusrusa to meet the demand. He lauded the efforts of the organisation for having trained 932 nursing assistants in 30 batches and rendering home nursing services to over 3000 people and majority on geriatric care since its inception in 2003.

Former State Election Commissioner Dr Ajit Kumar Tripathy said trained home nursing service is urgently required and it has no alternative.

Shusrusa president Gopal Chandra Nanda reiterated the body’s commitment of rendering quality home nursing service with expanding infrastructure in days ahead. The Governor and First lady Alemla Jamir gave away memorial prizes and awards to trainees and those who have completed training on the occasion.
