Firing another salvo against the ruling Congress Government in Himachal Pradesh, State BJP on Friday accused that the Congress Government in the State of patronising corruption and causing loss of crores to the Government exchequer.
Talking to media after a meeting of Charge-sheet Committee of Shimla district, BJP MlA and Spokesperson Rajeev Bindal alleged that almost all Congress leaders were involoved in corruption and their misdeeds were reflecting in the poor quality of developmental works done during the past four years.
Accusing government of misappropriation of public funds, Bindal said that payments for snow cutting were made to contractors in areas, where there was hardly any snowfall. He alleged that such payments in Rampur, Rohru, Jubbal, Kotkhai, Chopal, Theog and other areas of Shimla raises concern.
He said that most of the contracts of development works had been allotted to near and dear ones of the Congress leaders and that is why the contractors were not worried about the quality of work.
Picking holes in the road work carried out in Shimla this year, Bindal said that the metalling of road in the month of June and July this year could not last even 15 days. He said that even Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had recently admitted that the contractors were running Public Works Department. CM had even used abusive language against the MlA concerned for poor quality of work.
The BJP leader also accused Congress of patronising illegal construction of buildings and illegal mining in Himachal Pradesh. Quoting example of Shimla, he said that after the local residents made complaints against illegal mining, the mining activities were now being done in the night.
Bindal also took up the issue of misappropriation of market fee by Apple traders. He said that even the farmers were not getting their payments for Apple crop as around 1000 cheques issued by the traders to the farmers had been dishonoured by the banks and now the farmers had been running
from pillar to post to get their payments.
