Senior Haryana Congress leader and MlA from Kaithal, Randeep Singh Surjewala has moved Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking security cover. In a petition filed in High Court, Surjewala has expressed apprehension that he may be eliminated due to political considerations.

Seeking security cover by Central Industrial Security Force, in his petition Surjewala has said that the suspicious escape of "dreaded gangster" Surinder Geong has posed threat for him. Surjewala has also raised a question on State Government's timing of withdrawing his security, saying that the Director-General of Police, Haryana ordered for withdrawal the inspector from his personal security, the day after the gangster escaped from jail.

Taking up the petition, Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain issued notice of motion to the Union of India, the State of Haryana and other respondents. During the course of hearing, the counsel for Surjewala told the High Court that the gang of Surinder Geong was one of the most ignoble gangs of the petitioner's constituency.

He also told Court that during his tenure as a minister in the state, the petitioner had made public declaration of his government's resolved to take decisive and quick action against the notorious criminal gangs and to make the state crime free.

The counsel contended that the petitioner had raised alarm when Haryana government granted parole to the dreaded gangster for the construction of his house in May this year.

The petitioner in fact gave a call to DGP to point out the error made by the government in granting parole to such a dreaded criminal.

But taking the advantage of the benefit given to him by the Haryana government, the notorious gangster, later jumped parole and did not return to the jail in June and the developments of the escape of Geong smacked of a sinister conspiracy to eliminate him, added the petitioner. The case will now come up for hearing on July 19.
