Haryana to open more girls' colleges

PNS

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday said that a policy is being framed to open girls’ colleges so as to ensure that girls do not have to travel beyond 10 kilometers to pursue higher education in the state.

Under the policy, areas would be identified by next year for setting up more colleges. Besides, the government would fill up 3,000 posts of professors in colleges, said the Chief Minister while addressing a public meeting at Adampur in Hisar district.

He said that the State Government is of the view that not even a single girl child in the State should feel deprived of the facility of higher education and that she should get this facility in the nearby areas.

Manohar lal said that with a view to overcoming the shortage of doctors in the State, the State Government has formulated a policy under which a medical college would be opened in each district. These colleges would produce about 2,000 doctors every year. Besides, about five lakh youths would be imparted training under the Skill Development Mission to make them self-employed, said he.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also made various announcements to the tune of Rs 180 crore, including Rs 50 crore for strengthening the canal irrigation system in Adampur area. Apart from this, he announced Rs 15 crore separately for other development works in rural areas.

During the last two years, a sum of Rs 35 crore has been spent on developmental works in the Adampur Assembly constituency, said he.

The Chief Minister said the State Government had worked hard during the last two years to keep the promises made to the people. Corruption is a big issue in the state as well as in the country. Steps have been taken both by the BJP Government at the Centre and in the state to curb graft, he said.

e-Registry under e-Governance was the first step taken to eliminate corruption. Besides, check has been placed on nepotism and regionalism and development works have been carried out under the ‘Sabka Sath-Sabka Vikas’ policy, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister, Capt Abhimanyu, said the State Government is following the principle of ‘Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek’.

Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetise old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 as historic, Capt. Abhimanyu said that this would not only help bring out black money but also put a check on its generation. This decision would boost the Indian economy and benefit the common man, he added.
