In a bid to check transmission of Tuberculosis (TB) in the State, the Haryana Government has decided to launch a screening campaign.

The state Health Department will carry out screening of persons suffering from related symptoms in districts Kaithal, Karnal and Nuh in first phase of active TB case finding campaign.

This campaign will be launched  under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) from January 16 to 30, said Health Minister  Anil Vij on Thursday.

He said that the Department had constituted trained teams in all districts to  select persons showing possible symptoms of the disease. These symptoms included persistent cough, fever, weight loss, blood in mucus, pain in chest and other such symptoms, living in identified and mapped target groups such as those living in slums  and villages and hamlets that are difficult to reach, prison inmates, those living in old age homes, orphanages, construction site workers and weaving and glass industrial workers.

The Health Minister said that after screening of the identified persons, they would be provided free treatment in hospitals.

The campaign has been launched by the Central Government in 50 districts across the country, including three in Haryana, with the objective of making the country Tuberculosis-free.

The campaign would be conducted in three phases, with the second phase extending from July 17 to 31 and third phase from December 4 to 18, added the Minster.
