Haryana Government will launch a portal to georeference roads owned by different agencies in the State.

Initially, the project would be implemented on pilot basis in district Hisar in collaboration with Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC) and National Informatics Centre (NIC).

later on, the portal on georeferencing of roads would cover the entire state. This portal will help in quickly knowing the agency concerning any particular road and history of construction or repair of all roads.

A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Manohar lal on coordination amongst various agencies engaged in construction of roads and other related services here.

The State Government has also decided to prepare a mobile app to promptly deal with the complaints regarding condition of roads. To begin with, the mobile based app would also be launched in district Hisar.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Public Works (Building and Roads) department to prepare a mobile app on priority basis to enable the people to upload pictures of roads with pot holes, if any, or those which are in bad condition so that the officers of the concerned department are alerted and they are able to take remedial measure within the stipulated period. After the road has been repaired, the contractor to whom the repair work was allotted would upload the picture of the same which would simultaneously be received by the complainant.

The State Government has also decided that to prevent frequent digging of rural and urban roads in the districts for providing various civic amenities like laying of sewerage pipelines all the departments including Public Health Engineering, BSNl, Power Distribution Companies, Petroleum and Optical Fiber Companies would seek online approval through portal.

The condition of roads would improve only after laying future facilities in advance so as to avoid the digging work once the road is complete, said the Chief Minister.

Manohar lal said that he has already announced that all the roads connecting one district headquarter to the other would be made ten meters wide whereas the width of village road connecting three or more villages would be increased from 12 feet to 18 feet.

He also directed the Public Works (Building and Roads) Department and Haryana Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) to share their best practices for improving the quality of roads.

The Chief Minister also asked PWD to   explore the possibility of setting up of a research laboratory for carrying out research   on further improvement in the standard of roads in the State.
