Haryana Government will launch Mothers Absolute Affection (MAA) for promotion of breastfeeding in the state.
Health Minister Anil Vij will launch a flagship programme ‘MAA’ for promotion of breastfeeding in a state level function to be held at Panchkula on Monday, October 10, said a spokesman of the Health Department.
He said that ‘MAA’ programme is a yearlong campaign in which capacity building of community health workers such as ASHAs, AWWs and ANMs would be done on breastfeeding, lactation support and management at facilities.
The spokesperson added that breastfeeding creates a special bond between mother and baby and the interaction between the mother and child during breastfeeding has positive impact for life, in terms of stimulation, behaviour, speech, sense of well-being, security and how the child relates to other people.
