With the launch of four social programmes in Government schools all over the State, Haryana Government has planned to give a boost to ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign.

For the first time, events have been organised to bring the community, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), parents and the schools together for a common cause, said a spokesperson of Haryana Government.

He said that the programmes were marked by great enthusiasm and interest by the schools, parents, the community and PRI representatives. The first one was ‘Kanya Janmotsav’. Designed to give a booster dose to the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, government schools all over Haryana celebrated the birthdays of baby girls who were born in the village in the month of February.

Mothers of new-borns, invited by the school authorities, were excited and felt honoured to see the birthdays of their baby daughters celebrated in schools. It not only brought them closer to the schools but also helped in building a bond of belonging and trust with them. More importantly, the event made them proud of their daughters, said the spokesman.

He said that the second programme was ‘Hamari Panchayat, Hamari Atithi’ under which the newly-elected representatives of PRIs were invited by the schools to join hands for the betterment of education. The literate PRI representatives, some having passed out from the village schools, were excited to do something innovative and energetic for their betterment. They aired their feelings and even made some suggestions while talking to the students and teachers. Many held out the assurance that they would leave no stone unturned in bettering the lot of the schools in their respective villages.

Many renowned persons of the village also came along with PRI representatives who hailed the initiative taken by the department and wanted such programmes to be held at regular intervals so that they could make their contribution to schools. Most of those invited, having passed out from the same school, were overwhelmed and even made donations to provide the students more facilities, added the spokesman.
