Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Friday urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to make a strong recommendation to the Government of India and to the National Capital Region (NCR) Planning Board to provide liberal assistance in state’s efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and to upgrade agricultural marketing infrastructure in the region.
Manohar lal was speaking at the meeting of Northern Zonal Council (NZC) held here.
North Indian states played a key role in ushering in the Green Revolution and the nation now expects us to lead the way in crop diversification, water conservation and promotion of organic farming, he said.
On the matter of the treatment, storage and disposal plant for disposal of hazardous waste of Delhi, the Chief Minister raised Haryana’s concerns about disposal and storage of the waste as per norms.
He hoped that the deliberations held at the meeting would help to evolve a consensus on several inter-state and centre-state issues.
‘I am sure we will never lose sight of the important aspect of promotion of cooperative federalism even as we remain engaged in the task of building a modern, strong and developed India’, said he.
The Chief Minister said that relatively a small State, Haryana has a rich tradition of leading the way in several sectors of development, thereby accelerating the economic growth in the region.
During the ongoing celebrations of the Golden Jubilee year of the formation of Haryana, we have registered many firsts. These included becoming the first kerosene-free State and ranking first among all North Indian States in the ease of doing business ranking of states, said he.
Manohar lal said that we are proud to have registered a historic improvement in our sex ratio at birth and of our sports persons having brought laurels in many sports events including the last Olympic Games.
He said that many of the recent initiatives of the State Government would prove to be game changers in improving the quality of life in North India. Some of these included making all villages and cities of the state Open Defecation Free, guaranteed 100 hours of paid work for the unemployed youth, per month setting up of a Medical College in every district and setting up of a Girls College at every 20 kilometers in the state.
