With both Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his arch rival in Congress politics of the State, Chaudhary Birender Singh slated to organise a political function on August 20, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, party leaders and workers are in a quandary as to which function should they attend.
Obviously, the function of Hooda on August 20 when the Food Security Ordinance in the State would be implemented would draw a big crowd as it is an official function of the State Government.
However, the rally of Rajya Sabha member Birender Singh in Jind is being keenly watched as to who would attend the rally. Those who will attend the rally are expected to be “black listed” by the Haryana Congress as party insiders say that only those who are opposed to Hooda in Congress politics would attend it.
A section of the party believes that Birender Singh may even cancel the rally given the fact that it falls on the same day as that of the official function of the Haryana Government. But so far, there has been no information.
A Hooda baiter, disgruntled Rajya Sabha MP Ishwer Singh confirmed on Monday that he would attend the Jind rally of Birender Singh. However, MP from Gurgaon Rao Inderjit Singh is yet to confirm his attendance though an informal invitation has already been sent to him. Rao has been opposing Hooda for a while claiming that the development of the State was lopsided and his constituency had been neglected.
Kumari Selja, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, who is also not happy with the Hooda Government’s policies, neither confirmed nor denied her joining the Birender Singh’s rally on the same date. “Birender Singhji has a right to hold a rally, like others, I can go at both the places”, added Selja.
