Sounding the poll bugle in Haryana, Indian National lok Dal (INlD), the main Opposition party, has decided to contest the State Assembly elections, scheduled in October this year, under the command of Abhay Singh Chautala, MlA son of INlD chief Om Prakash Chautala.

“The party has appointed Abhay Singh Chautala as president of campaign committee for the elections in 90 Assembly constituencies of Haryana”, said Ashok Arora, State party president. The party would also constitute its manifesto committee soon, added Arora.

INlD chief Om Prakash Chautala, his MlA son Ajay Singh Chautala and several other senior leaders of the party are behind bars in JBT recruitment scam case.

Party sources said OP Chautala, who is out of jail to take part in the last rituals of his deceased younger brother Pratap Singh Chautala, who died on June 1 in Chautala village after brief illness, has given this responsibility to his second son Abhay Singh Chautala, after seeing his performance in the recent lok Sabha elections, in which party won two seats of Hisar and Sirsa after a long time in Haryana.

For INlD, which has been out of power in the State for a decade, the future relies heavily on the outcome of the Assembly Elections.

Though the party had showed improved performance in 2009 Assembly polls by winning 30 out of 90 seats, yet it does not want to take any chance this time.

The senior Chautala is on bail for three weeks and due to short time, he has already started formulating plans to win the Assembly Elections.

Chautala has also decided to put the responsibility of election campaign on the shoulders of all his four grandsons and appointed them in charges of different constituencies. Newly elected MP from Hisar constituency, Dushyant Chautala has been appointed in-charge of Uchana and Adampur, Digvijay Singh Chautala of Dadri and Babani-Khera and Karan Singh Chautala of Tohana and Ratia.

Besides these, senior MlAs and MPs have also been appointed in-charge of different constituencies. Abhay Singh Chautala has been appointed in charge of Ellenabad and Dabwali, Ashok Arora of Thanesar and Pundri, MP Ram Kumar Kashyap of Shahbad and ladwa,  MP Ranbir Singh Prajapati of Nalwa, MP Charanjit Singh of Kalanwali, MlA Pradeep Chaudhary of Kalka and Zakir Hussain of Hathini, amongst others.

Meanwhile, the party has decided to launch its ‘Jansampark’ (public contact) campaign from June 20 to 30 across Haryana.  Ashok Arora, State INlD president said party has decided to start mass level ‘Jansampark’ campaign from June 20 to 30.

“Party would appoint all of its constituency in-charges for 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana before June 20. Thereafter it would launch its State level people to people contact program and expose ruling Congress Governments’ corruption, scandals to the public”, added Arora.
