With the opposition alleging gross irregularities in paddy procurement, Haryana Government has decided to order physical verification of paddy stocks by senior officers in the State. Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Karan Dev Kamboj while talking to the mediapersons said that senior officers will be assigned for supervising the physical verification of paddy stocks. The verification is likely to begin from October 20 onwards. The decision came after the opposition Indian National lok Dal (INlD) and the Congress demanded a probe into paddy procurement scam. Both parties have alleged that farmers in the state had been cheated by buying paddy at lower cost from them.
