The Haryana Government has invited applications from individuals and institutions under its ‘State Awards for the Welfare of Senior Citizens’ scheme for 2016-17. The cash awards range from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
A spokesman of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department said that the scheme was being implemented to encourage and honour persons of the age 60 years and above, apart from panchayats, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), old age homes, day care centres, painters, sculptors, musicians and sportspersons who have done pioneering work for the welfare of older persons.
The awards would be given away in different categories. The applications may be submitted along with details or evidence of achievement to the District Social Welfare Office concerned before September 2.
