Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain on Friday said that the State Government has issued internet safety guidelines to alert the schools and parents regarding the threat of Blue Whale online game.
In this era of information technology, incidents of crime have been on the rise. Recent example is that of the Blue Whale online game, said Jain while speaking at a one-day workshop on state level consultation on laws related to Children, organised by the Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, here.
The Blue Whale Challenge, reportedly created by a former convict in Russia, is said to psychologically provoke players to indulge in self-destructive tasks for 50 days before finally taking the winning step of killing themselves — and each task must be filmed and shared as proof. Several cases across India have been suspected to be linked to the deadly game.
She said that the Government has issued safety guidelines to alert the schools and parents regarding this online game.
Expressing concern over the rising crimes against children, she said steps should be taken to ensure their overall development.
The police officers and other stakeholders should be more sensitive towards fulfilling the physical, mental and personal development needs of children. Indian Constitution gave children all the rights of a citizen. Many states have also implemented special laws and several policies have been formulated to ensure them their rights, said the Minster.
