A day after Indian National lok Dal (INlD) alleged irregularities to the tune of hundreds of crores in the purchase of medicines in Government hospitals in the State, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Monday said that the allegations were baseless and misleading.

The Minister, however, said that it has been recommended to get conducted special audit from Comptroller and Auditor General, of all districts of the State.

If any irregularity is found, strict action would be initiated against the officer or official concerned.

Apart from this, all civil surgeons have been directed to purchase online products available on GeM portal of the Central Government, said Vij while talking to the mediapersons here.

The State Government has also issued transfer and posting orders of eight civil surgeons and principal medical officers with immediate effect.

A day before, INlD’s Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala had alleged that norms have been violated in the purchases made at the district level by the concerned officials over the past three years.

According to our estimates, the total scam would be well over Rs300 crore, he had said while demanding a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation in the matter.

Giving details of the purchases made during the last three years, Vij said that the State Government has distributed Rs87.60 crore under Mukhyamantri Muft Ilaaj Yojana and National Health Mission from 2014 to 2017, of which only Rs40.89 crore was spent.

He claimed that from 2014 to 2017, Rs75 crore were distributed under Mukhyamantri Muft Ilaaj Yojana, of which Rs33.03 crore were spent. Similarly, Rs12.60 crore were distributed under National Health Mission during this period, of which Rs7.86 crore were spent, he added.
