Haryana Govt to formulate strategy to curtail hookah smoking

PNS

To curtail rampant hookah smoking, especially in the rural areas of the state, Haryana Government will formulate an effective Information, Education and Communication (IEC) strategy besides offering incentives to quit smoking.

The directions in this regard were issued by Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Rajeev Arora during the review meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC). He directed the officials concerned to formulate a strategy so as to motivate people to discontinue the consumption of such tobacco products.  The ACS Health also directed to start giving incentives to tobacco consumers for quitting and to initiate such programmes in schools and colleges.
