With ongoing Jat agitation entering its 31st day in Haryana on Tuesday and the community threatening to intensify its protest, Chief Minister Manohar lal on Tuesday said that the State Government is prepared for unconditional dialogue with the agitating Jats.
“The Government is ready for affirmative, meaningful and sympathetic consideration of the demands received from Jats. But, similar attitude is also expected from the agitators and they should also come forward for talks unconditionally, said Manohar lal, while talking to the mediapersons at Haryana Vidhan Sabha .
He said that doors of the State Government are always open for talks and it has never refused to hold dialogue with the agitators.
On being asked to comment on the law and order situation in the State, he said that necessary precautionary measures are being taken to maintain proper law and order and to also prevent the reoccurrence of incidents as occurred last year.
When asked to comment on the adjournment motion on Jat reservation agitation given by the opposition in the ongoing budget session of State Assembly, the Chief Minister said that all the political parties have unanimously agreed to it.
He said that the Speaker, Haryana Vidhan Sabha has fixed time for Wednesday for debate on this matter, barring the issues which were under consideration of the Court.
Earlier, Haryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu said that the leaders of political parties are trying to mislead the youth to regain their lost political ground through Jat dharnas.
The Minister said that people of the State are very well aware of the fact that INlD and Congress have always done cheap politics on the issue of reservation and vitiated the peaceful atmosphere of the State.
While talking to the mediapersons at Haryana Vidhan Sabha, the Finance Minister said that the State Government is prepared to hold talks with an open mind on the issue of agitation for reservation to Jat community, within the purview of the law and the Constitution, as it had done earlier.
He said that it is the responsibility of all to maintain peace and harmony, and the people of the State are aware of the fact that the agitation for reservation had been lent a political flavour as leaders of the opposition parties had not been able to raise any issues in the two years of the present State Government.
Capt. Abhimanyu said that the Government is in favour of granting reservation and a Bill to this effect had been passed in the Vidhan Sabha with the consent of all 90 legislators, after which the Government presented a strong case in the court.
He added that Chief Minister had already made it clear that as soon as the stay on reservation is vacated, the State Government would write to the Central Government to include it in the ninth schedule of the Constitution.
Appealing to the agitators to come forward for talks with the Government, he said that resolution is possible only through dialogue.
Replying to a question, he said that the committee of agitators had to specify on which level they wanted to conduct talks with the State Government.
